Things to do with the Kid's Easter 2025

Very tired kids, just ready for the Easter break, but they won't sit still for long. Keeping them occupied for 2 weeks is easy if you are planning easter egg hunts and colouring, but when the weather is lovely, you need to find lots of things to do outside too.

We've pulled together a list of ideas - some old, some new, and hope they keep you all busy during the holidays.

Places to go - across the country

The team at Let's Go with the Children spend ages collating where to go and what to do - and some if it is paid for by advertisers, but we find it is one of the most comprehensive guides out there:  Places to go list for you to explore

Create a butterfly haven in your garden

75 year old (2025) Alan Titchmarsh is the iconic British Gardener. Recently honoured by the King he is now a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in recognition of his services to horticulture and charity. We can't think of anyone better to help you with tips to create a butterfly haven in your garden.   Have a look at this link: Make a pond

Create a pond - it will attract wildlife

The Wildlife Trust advocate ponds and water features because they do so much to bring wildlife into the area.  It also helps if you first identify the warm, sunny area to put it – tadpoles, dragonflies and plants with thrive in these conditions best. Have a look at this guide to  pond building Here's how to build a pond - just click here

Can you spot signs of spring?

Why not take your little treasures on a nature trail. It will keep the little ones entertained and time files if you have tasks to complete on the way.

We have created spotter sheets and track identifier sheets for our little ones in the past - and there are good resources out there - have a look at the Wildlife Trust field craft page

If you'd rather create one of your own, here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Birds making or sitting on a nest
  • A wiggly worm
  • A butterfly or caterpillar
  • Frogspawn or tadpoles
  • Cherry blossom
  • A bee gathering nectar
  • Lambs in the field  - try counting them and getting the same number twice!
  • A new molehill
  • A Red Squirrel (if you are in a wood)

And finally - jump in a puddle (Essential)

Wanders by the water - water babies

Rivers, canals, little brooks and streams, or the beauty of a lake or a waterfall. Then there's the beach. Let the kid's imagination run wild. Playing safely in water is more fun if their feet are still warm and toasty. At Easter, the water is still very cold - especially in the lakes, so do take care. A simple fishing net can capture all sorts, or you can gather flat stones to paint when you get home.

Work up an appetite and kids get to eat for free

In these difficult times, it's important to get good value for money. Our wellies are made to be durable and last - so that's great for free adventures outdoors, but then there are hungry tummies to fill.

We spotted something from Money Saving Central which shows you where to get free kid's meals - or meals for just £1.
