What do you do with your woodland treasure after your wanders in Warm Wellies?

We love autumn when the leaves are turning and falling to the ground and there are lots of nuts and seeds underfoot in the woods. One of our favourite things to do, is to collect pine cones ready for the winter. We bring them home and then make sure they are dried before settling the kids down to do some crafting. Of course, gathering lovely flat pebbles to paint is something else that keeps the kids entertained on wet days. And if you have collected some leaves - how about some painting or making trees?

Crafting all year round

Painting cones is quite therapeutic (and a little messy for some), but it certainly creates a pretty bowl of cones to brighten a corner at home. If you want to get crafty in other ways, you can create animals using pieces of felt. We love this idea for creating wise old owls.

If it's for Halloween

Paint cones orange and link them together on long bits of string to dangle from the front door. Dare to add a spider - you can paint them black and glue and stick them to the cones.

For Christmas

Decorate your tree.  We prefer to paint the edges with white paint and tie a piece of brown string to them for the tree. You can also add glitter for something sparkly.

Festive Wreath. If you prefer to make a Festive Wreath, let loose with a can of gold spray (and get the adults to help when it comes to glueing and wiring the wreath together.
