We’re ten! And we’re celebrating. And we’re not the only ones! As well as being passionate about providing warm and comfy neoprene lined wellies for kids, we’re passionate about supporting rural businesses in Cumbria too. The Herdy Company - also based in Cumbria, is celebrating their tenth birthday too. We’ve asked them to supply us with some colourful kid’s brollies to use as thankyou’s giveaways and prizes.
Simon said “Herdwick sheep are iconic and indigenous to Cumbria – they are also at the very heart of the Herdy Company and the Herdy brand. We really respect the company for what they have achieved in creating an innovative brand and because from inception, they’ve grown funds for projects that support Lake District farming and our rural communities. We couldn’t think of a more fitting company to provide birthday brollies. They are well designed, loved by kids and appreciated by the parents - something our products have in common.
“October is statistically the wettest month of the year, so the idea of highlighting brollies from Cumbria works well. Kids can get togged up in their Warm Wellies and go for a wander outdoors protected from showers by Herdy sheep!”
Spencer and Diane Hannah are the co-founders and directors of Herdy. They offered umbrellas for the recent Warm Wellies photo shoot. Simon said “Our youngsters loved them and had great fun using (and playing) with them - basically they guided us on what to choose. The Herdy image really makes an impact, they are colourful and importantly, they do a good job in keeping the kids dry. Our customers are mainly parents so we know they will really appreciate the bright, fun brollies.”
The buggy load of brollies arrived at the farm last week, just ahead of the rainy season. Simon will appeal for his customers to send pictures of children wearing wellies and using the brollies on their autumn adventures. They will be added to our face Book page www.facebook.com/warmwellies and will also be shared with Herdy.
The Herdy Company was formed in 2007. They design and create unique gifts, homeware and accessories that are inspired by the loveable Herdwick sheep. They also support sustainable rural community and upland fell farming project through the Herdy Fund. You can buy the brollies at The Herdy Website
